First MCP Exam - The Result...

I had my first MCP Exam today. I will start this entry with the events of last night though. I spent a good 2 hours reviewing exam questions and topics. I did 90 practice exam questions last nite, and scored fairly well. I went to sleep nervous though, I had never done a MCP exam before. I set my alarm for earlier than normal, 5:30 to be exact, I wanted to get to the testing centre early and make sure everything was in order. I woke up a few times during the night, as you do when you have something huge on the next day.

My alarm didn't go off at 5:30, I accidently set it for Friday, not a good start to the day! Anyways it was 6:30 when I woke up. I hit the road at 7:00. I was dressed like a total nerd cause all my clothes were either dirty or wet from the rain we've been getting. The trip to the train station was annoying, heaps of slow traffic. I arrived at the train station at 9:00, got on the train at 9:30 and got to Brisbane at 10:30. I was supposed to be at the testing centre at 10:30, but luckily it was only a short distance from Central Station.

I found my way up to the 12th floor by following other people, I couldn't even find the freakin' lift! Once I arrived at the 12th floor, I said I was here for my exam, she knew who I was. She asked me to read and sign a document, so I did. Then she asked me if I would like to start my exam, and I said "No, do you have any toilets up here?" I desperately needed to go, I was nervous, very nervous. Going to the toilet wasn't an easy task, I was shaking, a lot!

I started with the practice exam, a quiz on the planets, luckily it told me the answers to a couple of questions regarding comets. Then I started my real exam, I swear I got the first 15 questions wrong, I just felt like I had no idea. Once I got in the swing of it though, the exam felt just like a mix of the practice exams, and doing my everyday job.

The computer I was using wasn't the quickest machine around. It would slowly creep it's way through the exam, and sometimes completely freeze up! It froze once during the exam, and gave a heap of error messages. I thought my exam had come to life for a second, but then the computer went back to normal operation. When I got to the last question, I went back to review the questions I wasn't sure about, and surely enough the computer froze again, this time it completely exited me from my exam. I had to get the support staff to fix it for me, although I was tempted to take look myself.

Once I completed the exam, it displayed the result. I scored 81%. I passed!

I scored very highly on most sections. I fell down on "Manage and Maintain Access to Resources" - it was around 40%... but the other sections were so high that it didn't matter.

I'm now waiting on the MCP emails from Microsoft. I'll report back after I get them.
