Design a scalable System Center Architecture
This objective may include but is not limited to: Planning for capacity, high availability, scalability, business continuity, and disaster recovery, assess the current datacenter environment, identify the appropriate System Center components for the private cloud implementation Microsoft System Center provides solutions that capture and aggregate knowledge about infrastructure, policies, processes and best practices so that IT staff can build manageable systems and automate processes to reduce cost, improve availability and enhance service delivery.
System Center 2012 is made up of the following components:
  • App Controller
System Center App Controller provides  a common self-service experience that helps easily configure, deploy and manage virtual machines across private and public clouds.
  • Data Protection Manager
System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) is a backup and recovery solution for Microsoft workloads. DPM provides protection for Files and Folders, Exchange, SQL, Virtual Machine Manager, SharePoint, Hyper-V and client computers. DPM also includes a central console for larger scale deployments
  • Operations Manager
System Center Operations Manager (OpsMgr) provides infrastructure monitoring to help ensure predictable performance and availability of applications.
  • Service Manager
System Center Service Manager provides a platform for automating an organisations IT service management best practices. Service Manager is designed to adhere to Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). Service Manager provides built-in processes for incident and problem resolution, change control and asset lifecycle.
  • Configuration Manager
Configuration Manager provides configuration and change management for the Microsoft platform. Configuration Manager has the following capabilities:
    • Operation System deployment
    • Software application deployment
    • Software update management
    • Compliance management
Configuration Manager can also be used to keep a hardware and software inventory and can be used to remotely administer computers.
  • Endpoint Protection
Endpoint Protection provides an antimalware and security solution for the Microsoft platform.
  • Orchestrator
Orchestrator provides orchestration, integration and automation of IT processes through the creation of runbooks, enabling you to define and standardise best practices and improve efficiency.
  • Virtual Machine Manager
System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) is a virtualisation management solution. Virtual Machine Manager assists in managing:
    • Virtualisation Hosts
    • Networking
    • Storage
Please Note: System Center Configuration Manager and Endpoint Protection are not covered in this exam. You will not find comprehensive information relating to these products in this exam preparation material.
